ATLAS VALLEY GOLF
COURSE
With gently rolling hills, wooded
surroundings, and Kearsley Creek all providing varying degrees of
difficulty, the course at Atlas Valley is not only aesthetically
pleasing but also quite challenging to golfers of all skill
levels.
Golf has been played at "The
Valley" since the early 1900s and the course has been changed on
numerous occasions. In 2003 , the Henrickson Family will celebrate 50
years of ownership and today's course layout has existed virtually
unchanged in that time.
The course is a traditional
design, 6400 yards for the men and 5500 yards for the ladies, with
nineteen bunkers and virtually no homes surrounding it. With the
absence of development, the course offers a quite solitude, which can't
be found anywhere else in Genesee County. The greens are relatively
small with many subtle breaks that roll very true and usually very
fast. The front nine is slightly more open with mature hardwood trees
strategically placed, and two very challenging par three holes.
The back nine requires more
accuracy on the tee shot as it is more tree-lined. The par five and
risk / reward holes which can be reached in two shots but also present
out of bounds and hazards that very much come into play. The par
three's on the back are shorter but still quite challenging with
elevation changes. The eighteenth is one of the more difficult short
par fours that has left many players shaking their heads as they walk
off the green!
All in all, Atlas Valley Country
Club is an interesting and challenging course with great group of
members and an efficient staff ready to serve all your needs.
